Can We Help?

Chronic pain can arise from various conditions, and at MEDSPIRE, we specialize in managing persistent pain, especially when traditional medical or surgical interventions have not provided relief.
While we focus on alleviating chronic pain and its impact on daily life, determining the exact cause of pain often requires collaboration with your primary care provider. It’s essential for patients to discuss any potentially reversible causes of pain with their general practitioner. In some cases, referral to another specialist may be necessary to investigate and initiate appropriate treatment.
At MEDSPIRE, our goal is to work alongside you and your healthcare team to develop a personalized pain management plan, aiming to improve your quality of life through comprehensive and compassionate care.

Back pain
Lower back pain often originates from three key structures:
Facet Joints: These small joints connect the vertebrae and can become painful due to wear and tear or injury.
Sacroiliac Joints: Located where the spine meets the pelvis, dysfunction here can lead to discomfort in the lower back and buttocks.
Intervertebral Discs: These act as shock absorbers between vertebrae; degeneration or herniation can cause pain that may radiate to the legs.
At MEDSPIRE, our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to diagnosing the specific cause of your back pain and developing a personalized treatment plan. Our goal is to alleviate pain, restore function, and enhance your quality of life through comprehensive care.

Nerve pain
Nerve pain, or neuropathic pain, arises from damage or dysfunction in the nervous system. It often manifests as burning, shooting, or stabbing sensations, and may be accompanied by numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness. Unlike other types of pain, neuropathic pain can persist even after the initial injury has healed and may not respond well to conventional painkillers.
At MEDSPIRE, we specialize in managing chronic nerve pain through personalized treatment plans. Our multidisciplinary approach aims to alleviate discomfort, restore function, and improve quality of life for our patients.

Nerve root pain
Nerve root pain, or radiculopathy, occurs when spinal nerve roots are compressed or irritated, often due to conditions like herniated discs or degenerative changes in the spine. This compression can lead to sharp, shooting pain that radiates along the path of the affected nerve.
For instance, compression in the lower back may cause pain that travels down the leg, a condition commonly referred to as sciatica. Symptoms can also include numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness in the areas served by the affected nerve.
At MEDSPIRE, we are committed to accurately diagnosing and effectively managing nerve root pain. Our multidisciplinary approach aims to alleviate discomfort and restore function, enhancing your overall quality of life.

Other nerve pains
Beyond the spinal roots, nerves can sustain injuries as they traverse through the body. Such peripheral nerve injuries can result from various factors, including:
Trauma: Accidents or injuries that physically damage nerves.
Surgical Procedures: Operations like amputations, mastectomies, chest surgeries, or hernia repairs can inadvertently affect nearby nerves.
Cancer and Its Treatments: Tumors pressing on nerves or treatments like chemotherapy and radiation can lead to nerve damage.Cancer Resources+1Moffitt Cancer Center+1
Infections: Conditions such as shingles can inflame and damage nerves.
Chronic Medical Conditions: Diseases like diabetes can gradually impair nerve function over time.
At MEDSPIRE, we specialize in diagnosing and managing peripheral nerve injuries. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing comprehensive care aimed at alleviating pain, restoring function, and enhancing overall quality of life.
Headaches vary widely in their presentation, with symptoms ranging from localized pain to visual disturbances and muscle weakness. Due to the diverse causes of headaches, it’s essential to consult with your general practitioner or a neurologist to determine the specific type and appropriate treatment.
At MEDSPIRE, we specialize in managing headaches that originate from the neck, known as cervicogenic headaches. These headaches result from issues in the cervical spine, such as arthritis or disc problems, and typically present as pain radiating from the neck to the back of the head.
We also address occipital neuralgia, a condition caused by irritation of the occipital nerves, leading to sharp, shooting pains in the back of the head and upper neck. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing targeted treatments to alleviate discomfort and improve your quality of life.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that typically affects a limb following an injury, surgery, or, in some cases, without a clear cause. Symptoms often begin with persistent, intense pain, swelling, redness, and increased temperature in the affected area. Over time, individuals may experience decreased temperature, heightened sensitivity, changes in hair and nail growth, muscle wasting, and bone thinning.
The exact mechanisms behind CRPS are not fully understood, and it remains unclear why it develops in certain individuals. At MEDSPIRE, we adhere to current clinical guidelines to manage CRPS effectively. Our multidisciplinary approach focuses on alleviating pain, improving function, and enhancing the quality of life for our patients.
